Holiday Inn

The Holiday Inn at Southampton has been given a stylish new look with replacement aluminium doors and windows from Beaufort Secure Design. The project was recently completed with the fabrication and installation of nearly 500 frames in an attractive white powder coated finish at this impressive nine-storey hotel. The project has been given a 25-year polyester powder coat market guarantee.

The new Beaufort aluminium windows replace a mix of single glazed aluminium and PVC-U fenestration. Four-panel patio doors were also fabricated and installed from the Beaufort range which leads onto the hotel's terrace from the restaurant. The local planning department stipulated that the new windows should match the existing frames as closely as possible. With its slim sightlines, aluminium offered the ideal solution, and being an inherently strong and rigid material it could also satisfy the high wind loading requirements of the large window areas.

Heavy duty direct fix outer frames with top hung restricted openers were specified for the project together with a tilt and turn option for the staircase and landing windows. Windows are externally glazed and feature restricted folding openers, which can only be released by the window cleaning contractors for safety and security purposes. The glazing used includes 4mm grey tinted anti-sun toughened glass to maintain a cool and comfortable interior environment. The white finish was chosen to complement the Hotel's waterfront location. In addition to a standard white gloss finish and choice of stock colours, Beaufort also offers over 500 special finishes - subject to quantity and delivery - which are applied in accordance with BS 6496 for long lasting durability.
